First Editions UK has been in existence in some form or another since 1997 when Gareth Newton first started building his own collection of modern 1st editions and selling on those books that were surplus to needs or simply didn't fit into the collection.

 

Over the years, and whilst adding to the collection, Gareth fine-tuned his skills of rooting out rare and special editions to add to both his own collection as well as for a few discerning clients across the world, gradually transforming what was originally a hobby into a developing business.

 

Whether purchasing books for his own collection or adding to those of clients the over-arching principles of thorough research, friendly and honest advice, and sourcing the best copies of books available wherever possible has always been at the heart of the business. Over the past 10 years or so the business has been joined by an enthusiastic newcomer - Sebastian Newton, who has been busy building his own collection of modern 1st editions with a focus on authors such as Terry Pratchett, Bernard Cornwell and J.R.R. Tolkien amongst others.
